Amend Therapy Practice is a trusted counselling and therapy service dedicated to supporting emotional wellbeing, healthier relationships, and personal growth through compassionate and professional care.
Since joining Relate as a Volunteer Counsellor in 1991, I have gained over 12,000 hours of counselling experience working with couples, individuals, and young people. Over the years, I have continued to develop my qualifications, counselling skills, and therapeutic knowledge while maintaining the same passion and commitment to helping others.
My five years online experience enabled me to not only continue in my own practice during covid, but to deliver training to organisations and other counsellors to equip them to work with clients where face to face was not an option.
Over recent years I have been able to move the service I deliver to solely online via Zoom (or other online forums where necessary).
The aim of every session is to provide a safe, confidential, and supportive space where clients feel comfortable exploring challenges, emotions, and personal difficulties without judgement.
My mission is to provide compassionate, confidential, and professional counselling services that empower individuals, couples, and families to better understand themselves, improve relationships, and overcome emotional difficulties.
I believe every person has the ability to learn, grow, and develop healthier ways of coping with life’s challenges when given the right support and therapeutic guidance.
Through tailored counselling approaches and a calm, welcoming environment, my goal is to help clients build confidence, emotional resilience, and positive long-term change.
My vision is to create a supportive and understanding therapeutic environment where people feel heard, valued, and encouraged throughout their personal journey.
Over the years, my work across community services, private practice, and support organisations has shown me the importance of accessible emotional support for people facing a wide variety of life challenges.
I aim to continue helping individuals and communities through professional counselling, emotional support, and therapeutic guidance that promotes wellbeing, confidence, and healthier relationships.
Experienced Counsellor & Supervisor with over 25 years of professional counselling experience supporting individuals, couples, young people, and families through a wide range of emotional and personal challenges.
Here are some first hand accounts of healing and positive change.
As part of my work with Employee Assisted Programmes (EAP) within social services, I have supported clients experiencing a wide range of emotional and personal difficulties including bereavement, depression, OCD, stress and anxiety, relationship challenges, retirement and redundancy, workplace bullying, post-natal depression, emotional trauma, and confidence or self-esteem issues. Working with clients through such varied experiences has strengthened my belief that every individual benefits from a personalised therapeutic approach tailored to their unique circumstances and emotional needs. To provide the most effective support possible, I use a range of counselling methods including CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy), Brief Solution Focused Therapy, and Psychodynamic Counselling. This flexible approach allows therapy sessions to be adapted to each client’s personal goals, emotional wellbeing, and individual journey towards positive change.
Being passionate about counselling and the positive impact it has on people’s lives has led me to help develop counselling services across Greater Manchester and surrounding communities.
One of these services operated in Glossop, where for 17 years I provided counselling support to the local community, Derbyshire, and Tameside with a strong focus on Couple Counselling.
Working alongside MacMillan, I have also helped establish counselling support services for Breast Cancer and Prostate Cancer patients, as well as emotional support services for family members.
Through my supervision work, I have additionally been involved in supporting counselling provision for ethnic minority groups and wider community wellbeing services.
